Freelancer, agency, in-house or studio: who should make your SaaS video?

By Flávio Narciso, founder · Last updated

A freelancer usually costs least, but you manage the script and direction yourself. An agency is the most hands-off and costs the most, and an in-house team fits companies that need video constantly and can hire.

DIY AI tools are fastest but rarely look finished. A small specialist studio like DreamJuiceAI sits in between, with fixed packages and one team from script to final cut.

Freelancer

Right choice when: You have a clear script and direction, and need a skilled pair of hands to produce it.

Watch out for: You become the creative director. If the brief is vague, the result usually is too, and availability can change mid-project.

Agency

Right choice when: You want a large team to own strategy, production and rollout, often across many channels at once.

Watch out for: Cost and timelines grow with the team, and a short product video can feel small inside a big agency's process.

In-house team

Right choice when: You need video constantly, every week, and can hire, equip and manage the people to make it.

Watch out for: Hiring takes time and a team needs steady work to justify it. Skills can be narrow if it's one person.

DIY with AI tools

Right choice when: You need a rough clip quickly, for an internal update or a quick test.

Watch out for: AI tools give you clips, not a story. Without a script, direction and finishing, it rarely looks finished.

Specialist studio (DreamJuiceAI)

Right choice when: You want one team from script to final cut, fixed packages from $1,500 and delivery within 10 working days for Launch Short and Explainer.

Watch out for: We're not the right fit if you need to film real people on location, or want a team inside your company producing videos every day.

Questions to ask any video partner

  • Who writes the script, and do we approve it before production?
  • How many revision rounds are included, and what counts as a round?
  • Is the price fixed for the agreed scope, and what would change it?
  • Can you show work for software or app products like ours?
  • Will you use our real product screens?
  • Which formats and lengths will we receive?
  • Who owns the final video, and when?

Questions

Do you write the script?

Yes. We write it from the call and your materials, and you approve it before production starts. If you already have a script, we can work from yours.

How many revisions are included?

Launch Short includes 2 revision rounds. Explainer and Launch Kit include 3. Your proposal confirms the exact rounds.

How long does it take?

Launch Short and Explainer are delivered within 10 working days, counted from the day you accept the proposal and send the materials we need. Time spent waiting for your feedback isn't counted. Launch Kit and Custom schedules are confirmed in your proposal. On a monthly plan, delivery dates are set in each month's plan. Launching sooner? Tell us your date on the call and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it.

Who owns the final video?

Once the project is paid in full, you get the usage rights to the final video as set out in your proposal. Unless we agree otherwise, we may show it in our portfolio.

Is it made with AI?

Yes. We combine human creative direction with AI production. Where the law requires it, realistic AI-generated content is labelled as such.
